Position Description

Applications are invited for a full-time, 9-month, tenure track position in the Department of Communication Disorders at Eastern Washington University.  Appointment will begin August 15, 2010. Responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate teaching with possible clinical supervision, mentoring of student research, and active participation in scholarly and service activities. Candidates with expertise in child language acquisition and disorders and/or literacy are encouraged to apply. Expertise in autism, speech disorders, and/or public school-based speech-language pathology are also desirable.  Preference given to candidates with an earned doctorate in speech-language pathology conferred by July 1, 2010; masters in speech language pathology or ABD required in lieu of conferred doctorate; doctorate must be conferred prior to tenure for continuing employment. Additional preferred qualifications include: CCC-SLP, eligibility for Washington state SLP licensure, and a desire and ability to promote and support cultural competence. Appointment as an associate professor with tenure is possible for exceptional candidates but must be considered in accordance with the University/faculty collective bargaining agreement and the policies and procedures of the College of Science, Health and Engineering and the Department of Communication Disorders.
