The department seeks applicants with a Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry, or related fields, with the potential to work with other faculty to create a nationally recognized, externally funded Center of Excellence in Drug Design and Development. Active areas of faculty research in the Department include the synthesis of antimalarial drugs, with one compound that is currently in a phase III clinical trial, and novel compounds to treat diabetic and ophthalmic complications. Ph.D., strong background in Medicinal Chemistry, organic chemistry or related fields.
